No luck, sardines really stink! Had one really good strike, but of course my rod was in the holder and I was eating lunch and watching some stripers jump in the distance. Did get two LMB's, maybe 1.5-2lbs each. Sooo.........no pics.

Just curious Spirit. Back in the old (very old) days, no eatable part of a gamefish could be used. The head and guts were fair game. Has that wording changed?

Not sure. I will look it up.
I tried soaking chicken breast in a can of sardines in oil this year, nothing. Have tried shrimp in the past but nothing. Took a friend out this year and he did get one on one of my shrimp. No luck with chicken liver either. I fish them on a circle hook set up with an egg loop. Works pretty well but no fish on them so far. Gonna try them on bull heads and see what goes!
Another good bait is dead minnows not stinky dead just kill them as you use them. Just pop their bellies so the innards hangs out and fish them on the bottom Carolina stile.

Great idea unless you are the minnow. My older brother used to try to do that to me.
