Just because I haven't heard of a place being used for fishing does that mean it's not worth trying?
So I want to try some pretty remote places in my local river but I've never heard of people catching anything in them so should I just try my luck with random places that look like they'd have fish or stick to places other people fish?

Depends on how much searching you're willing to do
CKeepCrypt: I am amazed that more people aren't willing to strike out and find new places. I notice a high percentage of new members come aboard with questions about where to go, and there are probably as many or more undiscovered hot spots waiting. The fish do not stay in one spot, because the bait does not stay in the same spot! More depends upon tempreature of the water, food supply, and other factors, all that influence their movement so it would pay to be adventurous and explore, especially if you fish in a boat and have the proper electronics. Be adventurous. Trying out new places builds confidence. Catching in new places assures confidence to repeat adventures.

Don't always fish memory. Too many waste time fishing same spot everytime. As mentioned fish follow the bait. You'll never find the next good spot if you don't look for it. 👍👍
