Re: Fear Photos

This photo was of a big brown
bear that just walked up to within
ten feet of a man sitting in a lawn chair taking pictures of people
fishing - the bear walked up, sat
down, watched wh**ever was
going on, then got up five minutes later and just walked away !

(There is a video of
this on YouTube !)

My buddies, in Alaska, encounter brown bears a lot. They told me, on my first trip up there several years ago, “you ain’t gonna out-run one. It’s a 50/50 deal if you encounter one close. Just sit still and don’t pose a threat or startle one and you’ll be fine or you’re gonna be dinner if they’re looking for a meal. If you run you’re a meal even if they’re not hungry. Those are your options unless you’re packing a BIG gun. Even then it’s 50/50”. They all have brown bear rugs on their walls. They’re like cow hide size. Huge!! My buddy has one that measures 9 feet squared and weighed 1042 pounds. They’re a giant grizzly. They shoot them from their boats for safety reasons. Kinda crazy but they’re walking the streets in Homer regularly. Saw two in Gerdwood in the middle of the day in a snow storm. Not huge ones up more than I’d care to mess with.Just walking around getting in trash dumpsters. Pretty normal deal around there.
