Been fishing fresh water for many years. I've fish on the Professional level and was a guide for several years. I mainly fish for Largemouth Bass, but occasionally like to striper and crappie fish. I'm currently living in W. Texas where there is a limited supply of good to great fishing lakes and none close by. My near future plans are to move near a good to great bass lake, i.e. OH Ivie, Choke Canyon, maybe even Champion Creek Reservoir, which is on a great come back from the golden alge plague in 2014.

Welcome Jimmy. Hope you like it here and you find that place near a good lake.
Where in W Texas do you live now?
Good luck, tight lines and post pics.

Midland, nothing but dirt and mesquite brush! Came here to work the oil rigs, but that is a part of the past.

Yes, I've been keeping my eye on it, seems with all the rain we've been getting has upped the lake level, so I can only assume that there is a bunch of new cover for bass!

Welcome to the Stage Jimmy. We have a bunch of Texans here, but it's a big state, not sure if any are near you. Meanwhile good luck exploring, and Tight Lines!

And a few rattlesnakes. Midland. Passed thru there many times on my way from San Diego to Dallas. My good friend RJS, a Texas gentleman, has assured me that he would rather be anywhere in Texas rather than in California. Hmmm. Really?

I don't know about "Anywhere " but I do love Texas and Oklahoma bass fishing, thing is, you have to be east of the I-35 corridor! That's where all the bass lakes are and to think, I used to live there!

East Texas is green and no blowing dirt. You might consider Lake Fork and several other great fishing lakes.. If you are getting up in age, medical facilities are really good. One of my considerations.

Well, I'm retiring in 18 months. I've fished Fork, was a guide on Ray Roberts, lived near Texoma and absolutely love Sam Rayburn. I just don't want to get back in the Metro mess! I'm just looking for a piece of land where I can set my RV and if I feel like building something I will. I just need out of Midland/Odessa area. They said moving here would grow on me, well it has, like a wart!! Ha!

Can't blame ya there. I'd move from there as soon as I could too.

Jimmy, Wood county is a good place to look for property NOW. Land prices going up and up day by day. I live 5 minutes from Fork. My daughter works in real estate, so she knows. Lots of folks coming from DFW.
