I cannot help but wonder if all the rest of Fishing Forum is seeing all the various styles of boots promoted by Tecova? This is a new boot company located in Austin, Tx. They have their boots manufactured in
Mexico and offer most of their exotic leather boots at a much better price.

I have ordered and received a pair of coccadile leather boots and paid around $ 300, or so, which was a bargain. I had retired and got an unexpected check from the company and decided to treat myself.

I do not know if any of you ever wear cowboy boots, or not. If you do and are in the market, this is in my opinion the best deal available for quality versus the price. They also have an excellent return policy. If you order a pair, try them on and do not like them for any reason at all, simply put them back in the shipping box, return them for full credit. Now you cannot wear them for a week, but just as you got them, return and get a refund.

If you are put off by these boots being made in Mexico, don't be. Since the 1600's or so, the knowledge and ability to manufacture western boots has come from Mexico, even if those boots were made in Texas, the men and women in the back shop were Mexican, or trained by Mexicans.

So, feel free to compare prices, and I think you will be surprised. Just Sayin...RJS

I have always wondered abut them. Please give us a report in a month or more and let us know more. Are they comfortable, wear well, sized right? Thank you.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I have had my crocs for going on 3 years and love them. I alternate between Lucasse and the Tecovas depending on whether I m going to wear Levi’s or khakis! I have had both installed a zipper on the inside to make it easier to get them on and off! Just Sayin…RjS

I've got a pair of Necoma boots that I bought for my oldest daughter's wedding. Black tux, gold vest and black ostrich boots. Not the ostrich with the little dimples, these were from the lower leg and looked like alligator. Had them for 17 years and still love them. The pair I had before that I wore til the leather dry rotted. They were resoled and heeled 5 times. I do need a boot jack to get them off though.

Yes, i am very familiar with ostrich leg leather. I had a pair of Rios of Mercedes boots and they felt good, looked like a million dollars and most folks had never seen ostrich leg and they did look a lot like alligator skin. The problem was when soles needed to be replaced, they made the fit a little tight and I didn't wear them as much. When our church had a drive to collect shoes and such for the needy, I gave them those boots! I hated to, but they were no longer comfortable to wear. Just Sayin...RJS

Funny thing about the boots. I bought the tux for the wedding because I was going to need one for several events and it was cheaper to buy it. I paid more for the boots than the suit. Topped it off with a black cowboy hat I picked up in Montsna.

Thanks! I might check them out. Always in the market for a new pair of boots.

Tominsdtn: I don't know about the prices of regular cowhide leather whether Tecovia is competitive or not. But in the exotics, you cannot beat the prices, or that was the case the last time I checked. I have never had to return anything, but they claim they will honor any return as long as the buyer hasn't worn the boots and the soles show the wear. Just Sayin....RJS

Was that zipper installation very expensive ? Mine cost about half
of that just over ten years ago, but since putting on considerable
'excess baggage', putting them
on just isn't worth the effort,
anymore ! I've always liked wearing boots (and the extra couple inches they give me), but seldom wear more than shorts and T-shirt nowadays ! Would still like to wear them occasionally, when I do wear jeans/slacks ! Zippers may be the thing, but only if it's affordable !

Well, I cannot speak for where you might have the zippers installed. My first one was $100. The second set was I believe $150.00. Nor cheap but necessary for me to be able to get them off and on easily. It might be worth a trip to the shop to inquire how much they would charge, getting a price ahead of time. Just Sayin...RJS

Hi RJ—- Do you have to break them in? Always stopped me in the past from buying cowboy boots. Was afraid they wouldn’t “break”.
