I normally use just a Double Loop. Then put the end of the loop through the hook or Swivel-Snap. Quick simple and easy to do. Learned to do it back before the Internet was even thought of. If the loop is only a single loop, it can slide down the line. Double loop never moves.
Agree the Paloma is great for braid to terminal tackle but itโs no good with small hook eyes like on flies or for attaching leaders direct to braid. For small hook eyes with fluoro or mono my favorite is the Orvis knot. I find it easier to tie than the clinch or improved clinch knot and stronger too. For leader to braid I use the uni knot with some extra wraps on the braid. Internet is a gray source for how to tie any knot you can name.
What is the strongest and simplest knot you know how to tie: I answered as asked. All 3 required points covered. Never said "BEST "?
I also agree with you about "Best". That's why I just use the double loop, IF it the loop will go through the eyelet of the hook. If not I use a Swivel-Snap with the double loop and then attach the Lure or Hook.
I like the trilene knot. It tied for first place with "knot wars" that was on the fishing club tv show. You'll have to google it. All I leaned to do was type in these boxes.
