Suffix mono? Or baitcaster problem?

So my store was out of my normal Berkely triline xl. I always get the low vis green as it works best with my water. I picked up a spool of suffix. Seemed like a good deal.

Went to respool my carbon fire baitcaster and decided to do a little maintenance as well(oil bearings and little grease on the gears).

The last two days this thing just backlashes like crazy. I haven’t measured either but it feels like I have significantly lost distance. The brakes I’ll have to set at 8-10 and the tensioner to where the bait either doesn’t drop or very slowly falls. Which is abnormal for me. I used to never have it above 4 and had the tension to a steady fall. But unless I have it set to much higher it will always backlash and even if I have it set high, if I wing it too hard or don’t really thumb it hard it’ll backlash.

It feels super smooth to reel in. So I’m starting to lean on the line itself being the issue. But has anyone else had issue with this line before or any suggestions?

I've used suffix mono in past. Never had a problem with it. Maybe too much grease or oil. It doesn't that much. Maybe line twist when spooling. Heavier wt line may decrease distance but should be causing backlash
