Were you fishing from the bank? Been a while but I used to tube on Alpine with my 3wt fly rod and a sinking line. Woolybuggers. Always had good luck. I'm a lousy fly caster, but you don't need much skill when your trolling with a sinking line. Thanks for the photos. How were the skeeters? Went up there last year and they tried to carry me off and I forgot to bring any Cutter. Skeeters won. I left.

Alpine was one of my favorite places to go. Beautiful lake. And youโ€™re right about the skeeters, they will take you back to the nest.

No need to haul a boat all the way to Alpine when one can limit in a couple hours. Would love to try fly fishing but again what the point when you can limit just soaking bait.

Camped, fished there with my kids 20+ years ago. Always caught fish. Drive over to Mosquito Lk. to bankfish with the logging trucks roaring by 8ft. away

If your goal is just to catch fish. Float tube on that beautiful little lake, fly rod in hand, talk about gettin away from it all. And I can just bout guarantee that if you spend a couple hours or so out there kicking and pulling a woolybugger around, you are gonna catch some trout. I do hear you though. That's me at Alpine in my avatar with a pretty nice one I caught one beautiful sunny morning. Just sittin there in my chair on the rocks by the dam.

I was going to ask if that was Alpine. That rock looks really familiar.

Gotta get there early to get that spot. That was in September 2013 and the kiddies were all back in school, not many folks up there that day. But I did have a little buddy to keep me company.

Nice backdrop Spirit, squirrel is kinda cute too, fish looks like a keeper but that guy holding him needs to get out more to increase his PB.

My 2nd also! I generally carry when I'm fishing. Next time I see him. Can you get snake loads for a .40?
