Getting into fishing again and want to build the right foundation for my kit.
Are high-quality hooks and lines worth it
If so what are your recommendations?

So much depends on what you’re after. Freshwater, I presume? There are a lot of great lines out there, but not sure about 5# test. Are you looking for braid, monofilament or fluorocarbon lines?
Of course, there are great hook manufacturers as well.
Mustad Aberdeen hooks are great, small diameter hooks and are made in many sizes.
Eagle Claw has some great (American made) hooks, too.
Gamakatsu and VMC make some great, technique specific hooks.
Ironically, you have opened a huge “can of worms” and will get lots of opinions. There are lots of excellent anglers on this site who will be glad to help if you tell them what you want to catch. Good luck and welcome to the Stage!
