I’m a new boat owner and been trying to catch some catfish at Hubbard. Does anyone know of a spot where I might be able to catch some
Willie: I have never fished Lake Hubbard, but here are some suggestions. If you can locate brush piles, or rock ledges, anything that large cats can use as a den, there you will find the biggest catfish in the lake.
Now for bait, I read here all about liver, weiners, stink bait, or using kool aid to flavor stuff, but I believe you will do better if you will take a light line, rod and hook, with earth worms and catch you some perch, or sun fish about the size of your hand. With that and fishing in those most likely spots, (I would suggest doing it at night,) you will wind up with you and your big catfish's picture in the local paper. Just Sayin....RJS
Thank you sir I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. We have been out last 3 nights and have caught 3 barley keepers. Going to try Cat Branch tonight
Willie: What are you using for bait? Big Blue Cats love perch, so do the larger yellow cats. They will also eat almost any other small fish, but you have to be careful since there are laws against using some fish for bait. Just Sayin....RJS
Liver worms Dow bait and shrimp. Been catching what we have on shrimp. I need to catch some perch which is what I’ve been thinking. I usually fish creeks but bought a fish and fun pontoon so now fishing at the lakes
Yes, Willie, I suspect that if you upgrade your bait and offer them some live perch, you might just get your picture in the news paper. You know that Junior Samples got his start by telling a story about a big catfish he caught, and a bigger one that got away! Just Sayin....RJS
