Calaveras or Brunig Lakes. Cats and Drum also. When I lived in Pipe Creek went there a lot of times.

When you say 'near me', how close
do you mean ? Just the immediate
area or within a reasonably short
drive ? About an hour north is
Canyon Lake with the upper Guadalupe River flowing into it - the river has bass, catfish and other warmwater species (and 'gators) !
The lower Guadalupe River is a coldwater, trophy trout section
from Canyon Lake Dam down to
New Braunfels, with special regulations, so check the regs
before going ! It also has some
decent bass, (LMs, SMs, Guadalupe
bass and stripers) !
About 1-1/2 hours south of you is Choke Canyon Reservoir - it has
some decent bass fishing and
several species of gar, including
some BIG alligator gar (and again, some big 'gators ! Good luck and
