Mono as backing for fluoro?

I fish very clear water most of the time, so having fluoro spooled up seems to be the way to go around here.

That said, I'm having trouble finding 10 or 12 lb fluoro around me, and I hate Jeff Bezos.

I need to respool my rod soon - does it make sense to fill it 1/3 with cheap mono in order to ration the fluoro I've got left?

That makes sense unless you just want to utilize the fluoro as leader material in 6-10’ sections?

I use 8 or 10 lb mono backing for every kind of line. I don't use real cheap or stiff mono. I'm not fond of leaders. If i get 300yd spool i get 4 75yd pcs. Thats enough for a good cast n then some. Again all personal preferences
