Here’s the three types of bass here.
We also have White Sea bass, but these three bass are year round here.

I’ll flip the lure out from the right side when casting, as soon as it hits the water I switch hands and let it fall. Your right a lot of hits are while it’s falling.
I don’t freshwater fish, except for trout at times, I mostly fish in San Diego bay for bass and it’s mostly the same technique as freshwater bass. The same lures will work for both usually. I use plastic grubs and either reel them back in and let them do their own thing with with their built in action or jerk them and let them free fall reel in the slack etc. We have eel grass here where you’ll mostly find them along the shore line. We have three different kinds of bass here kelp, bay spotted bass, and calico.
If a fish hits the lure while I’m switching hands I still have control of it.
Grandfather forced me to use my right hand. I write with my left and throw a baseball with my right. Now I’m comfortable pretty much using either hand.
Been fishing since I was a little guy and I’m 75 now, if it’s not broken don’t fix it. lol.
Have a good one

Put up a pretty good fight on light tackle.
Most people here won’t eat them, me either. There’re ok but not great, most people catch them just for the fight.
I use 12 or 15 pound test for them.
Bonitos are my favorite to catch, good fighters. Marinate them then on to the smoker they go.

Hi Henry. I heard all kind of tales about being left handed when i was young. Some crazy stuff about witch craft n the devils hand. Not sure where that came from. Old superstitions. I saw them trying to make kids all use rigbt hand. I had a cast on my right hand for 5wks. My writing looked like a doctor or lawyers 😂

My first 2 reels were right hand reel spincasts and even at a young age casting with my right hand then switching the rod to my left so I could reel didn't seem right to me. The first decent reel I got (Diawa Silvercast) had a reversible crank so I switched it to left hand reel and it just felt so much more natural and that's how I've fished ever since.
