Got out this afternoon for a couple hours

Been about 3 weeks si ce I’ve taken the boat out. With work commitments and plenty of bad weather
We had flash flooding this past week so the local lake was mud soup and high
Me and brother went to a local municipal park lake. It’s an old quarry about 265 acres and it generally stays pretty clear
Got one on a deep crank Megabass Deep Six in 18 ft of water.
Maybe a pound.
Lost another on a shaky head.
Didn’t really expect much of anything. Just needed to blow the stink off the boat.
Felt good to be out.

First time I’ve had my new boat in this lake
I was pleasantly surprised to lear that my Garmin 93SV had contour map of about 80% of this lake!!!
Sweet. !!!
Always wanted to chart this lake
It has some very interesting topography. Humps at completely random locations that were piles of quarry waste
Sudden drops from quarrying operations .
I found an old truck on sonar and a few sections of conveyor
An old access switchback road leading to an 85 ft pit and a couple of cars
This place is like a 15 minute drive.
Now that I know I have detailed topo, maybe I should log some hours there.
There are bass there but as you can imagine they get pressured pretty good.
Also good population of crappie and perch.
I loaded the freezer with big slab bluegills there several years ago with my youngest son.

Glad to hear you got out Ben, and saw a little action. This year's weather has been horrendous. Hopefully it will break soon and get back to a normal summer pattern.

I’ll try to get a pic of some of the cool features on my sonar unit.
Sometimes I’ll turn on down imaging just to get clear detail of what I’m seeing.
That’s about all I use it for. Really close look

It’s just nice to scratch that itch isn’t it Ben? All the info of what you saw on your Garmin are very interesting to me. That’s really cool to get out in your new boat. Stay safe and tight lines next time.
