This time of the year the Long Island South shore experiences a strong run of Sandbar sharks and I was looking to get in on the action. I have a 10000 Stradic and 6’6 trevala rod. This setup has the power to reel in most fish I hook into with 300 yds of 50lb power pro. However the length of the rod prevents me from gaining real distance on my cast to reach a sandbar. I’ve heard balloons are great ways to get a bait out in the surf. Does anyone know if the use of biodegradable balloons to float bait out is legal in NY?

We use balloons for shark off shore, I’m not sure about inshore, but if you have biodegradable balloons, I doubt if there’s any problems.
