We use a marsh mellow on the end of a night crawler so they float off the bottom.

That works too. I learned all that when I went to our small lake where every year the state puts 4200 Rainbows in about four or five times in our two months of winter. Mouse tails work too. My one and only Rainbow. ๐Ÿ˜‚

That would be great if they come around. When I started crappie fishing I really stocked up on them!

Bruce, chartreuse seems to be a go to color for the Crappie I like to fish for. I use different color jigs but it has to have some chartreuse. Have you ever used the blow up syringe for the worms? It pumps air into them so they float. Great for fish that arenโ€™t bottom feeders.

Thanks Hack....thats a great tip. I have never used the syringe on them but I will give them a try. I don't have much luck with jigs for pan fish. I do use various colors of Crappi Max from Bass Pro Shop. Thanks again my friend

Hack...thanks for the great tip. I'll have to give it a try. I traditionally don't have much luck with jigs on pan fish. I do use various colors of Crappie Maxx from Bass Pro Shop. Thanks again my friend. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Welcome home soldier. I am an 11 yr veteran in the Marine Corps. 2nd Force Recon and Drill Instuctor at Paris Island.

Hello Maineboy. I was born and raised in Mass. My dad was from Oldtown. Our family would spend our summers at our cottage at Hamton Beach NH. I miss saltwater fishing for Cod,Halibut and Flounder. Anyway thanks for the response. Chartreuse is definitely the go to color.

That reminds me of the trend a few years ago to dye minnows red. They were called Rosie Reds. I certainly hope your green worms work better than those red minnows did.

LOL....They certainly work well for me. Worm Glow is not a dye as such...it's a nutient that is actually orange in it's powder form. Turns yellow with moisture. Turns the worms green as they absorb it. Pretty amazing stuff.

Hardest thing about it Bruce is keeping them still long enough to inject them. I have some syringes for B12 shots and I started using them. It works just as well. In about three1/2 months the state will begin stocking the little lake with Rainbows and this year Iโ€™m ready for them. Sounds kinda weird but Iโ€™ll use a Crappie rig to fish for them. It will keep the bait suspended and hopefully Iโ€™ll do better than one fish.

Cam....there's something about that chartreuse color that drives them crazy...thanks for the response...happy casting

It is the easiest color to see in off color water, I think that is what it is, but in clear water that color is
just as effective. Wall Eyes love that color of a large grub with a bit of Nite Crawler taster. Flounder
line up for the gulp grub in that color.

Thank you for your Service Top. Iโ€™ll have to look into the Crappie Maxx. Iโ€™m not sure what it is but Iโ€™ll find out. Using Crappie jigs can be frustrating but once you learn their biting habits, I find it a lot of fun. Sometimes you can barley feel the bump to set the hook and other times they give themselves away. Again Bruce, thank you for your Service Brother.
