I live in the southeast US, so bugs (particularly mosquitos) are an issue when I'm fishing later in the evening. I use the wipes that are soaked in repellant and just wipe my arms and legs down. Of course then my hands are covered. When I change lures or re-tie a knot, it gets all over everything. Logic tells me this probably isn't a good thing, but I'm not sure how to get the mosquito repellent off without washing my hands. Ideas? Suggestions? Should I not worry about it? Thanks!

If the bug stuff contains deet it can melt plastic.
At least wipe your hands with a towel or rag before handling your gear.
Instead of wipes get a spray and just spray the back of the hands to keep the repellent off the fingers and palms.
Spray your baits with WD-40 afterward , problem solved !
Deet repellent turn fish away!!! They smell it or taste it and forget it.

Here in California my experience has shown me that any and all unnatural scent Will without a doubt keep you from catching fish. If I need to use bug repellent I will spray a rag with 100% DEET and then gently wipe my arms, legs, neck, or wherever but I make it a point not to get any on my fingers or hands, and because of that I use a pair of latex gloves when I spread the Deet around. The high concentration of Deet allows you to use less of it, with the same effectiveness as a can of regular repellent. I hope this helps you with your situation and I wish you good luck out there!
