oh definitely, i’m super lucky to have a best friend that works at a fly shop. they were clearing out old stock today, we will be putting them to good use on a trip in a couple weeks
gonna try to count them all later, there’s more too

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but at what point does an inventory of flies get "old?" It's not like they expire or go bad or stop looking like bugs. Do fly patterns fall out of fashion? Are trout only interested in the 2020 models? Seems like their shelf life should be pretty much infinite unless the thread falls apart, at which point you wouldn't be fishing with them anyway.
Not trying to shit on this haul, just curious. I am definitely jealous and hope they land you some lunkers!

Not an expert but my father is so I’ll give my two cents. I think you’re spot on and they won’t get old. Depends on the season as to which flies to use but they don’t fall out of fashion they just tend to do better in some months vs others. So really the more flies the merrier because if the fish are biting on one fly ya just tie on another and keep trying!

no worries that is a good question... and it’s just what he told me which was probably not 100% true lol, i know some are extras, some they didn’t have a sku number for. mostly just a hook up:) i will say i’ve been having a rough time lately and these definitely made my week, and i’m hoping to get some good photos that the shop can use

When the fish evolve beyond being interested in mere physical sustenance.

Hopefully it leads to plenty of hook-ups. Several puns intended.
