I like talking about fishing TOO much

Whenever I pass someone at my local fishing spots I inevitably ask "how's the fishing?" or something of the sort and more times than not I realize I've been standing there bs'ing about fishing for like 15 minutes. This happens very often. What about you guys?

Bonus story, I recently talked to a guy while fishing who came up to me and in the conversation came up how much trash is all around this particular lake and how much it annoys us. I eventually came back around to where he had been fishing and there was cigarette butts, beer cans, and even his foam nightcrawler container. And I know they were his because he was carrying an almost empty 12 pack of the same beer and smoking a cig while I was talking to him. Nice guy but good lord people pick up you're damn trash.

There's no such thing as talking about fishing too much. It's literally the only thing I can really carry a conversation about. Anything esle and I draw a blank fairly quickly. I also work on a charter boat so that all the people that come aboard hear about.

I can relate to this when having convos with damn-near anyone. If someone knows me, they inevitably ask me about fishing and if I've caught anything good, which leads to me pulling out my phone and showing off my catches like a proud parent. If I don't know the person well, the convo inevitably leads into hobbies and, of course, fishing.

On your second point, I got tired of seeing litter all the time, too, and decided to buy a litter-grabbing claw device so I can clean up areas where I fish. We shouldn't have to clean up after other people, and I understand wanting to do it, but hey, it's something.

I will often go for a cruise along our seawall in my power wheelchair and I talk to pretty much everybody who's fishing to ask them how they're doing. I have come home with lures and all kinds of stuff from talking to people and having them say "here! I've got LOADS of these, try it!". One night I met an elderly man who, I think just wanted company and somebody to fish with because he loaned me one of his fishing rods so I could stay for a while and fish with him.

My husband is MUCH worse than me. He can hold a 30 minute conversation with a ROCK and as long as it's about fishing, that's fine with him. 😁

I had a great chat with an old salt in the isle of a dicks sporting goods once.. Learned so much about how the fished used to be in the past. Sounded amazing.
