Yesterday I decided to do a little prep work for the up coming storm. Found out the battery on my generator was flat dead after dragging that 300 lb monster up on my raised rear deck. It has a back up pull start. Wonders never stop. Turned the gas on and on the second pull and it was running. As a kinda prepper I've got all the other necessities covered, water, gas for the generator, food etc etc. The VA mailed me all my appliances and meds I must have to live the next month. Now if 20 gallons of gas gets me thru the expected power outage I'll even be cool thru this storm. Not sure what to do with my Colorado XT pontoon boat. It's strapped down to trailer now. Was thinkin bout leaving it on the trailer and just setting the anchor in the flower bed. Only once in 40 years did water get over 1 foot deep in the yard. The house floor is 2 foot above grade and our house is the highest on the street. Other storms have flooded neighbor's houses. All them are on slabs at grade. The water was 3 ' deep on both ends of our street the last storm. Deep enough I wouldn't drive a car thru. Saltwater you know. So if I'm out of touch after Wednesday it's only cause cell towers are down. I'll tell my next door neighbor that I'll run her a extension cord and I've got room in my freezer for her food.

All that sounds so familiar from living in NC. Every storm is different just don't get complacent. A few miles that thing shifts east and a new ball game at hand. Stay safe FF.

I'm hoping Cuba kills it but don't think it will. At least there'll be some good come from this. Regardless of how far west it goes it'll break up the red tide.
Yikes, I hope that it turns into a false alarm! Good to know that you have the foresight to prepare!
Sounds to me like you're ready and this ain't your first rodeo. Hoping it's not as bad as you're thinking it might be. I got a girl friend lives just south of you in Bradenton - she don't have a clue. Gets thru these on a fart and a prayer, know what I mean?

I got 1 more job before the weather gets rough. I made what I call a dog house for my generator, well I need to screw it down to the deck. I made it out of 2x4s and 3/4" plywood but last years storm the wind made it walk around. It stayed over over the generator barely. So in the morning I'll screw it down.

Do you best to stay safe Fin, and it’s always nice to help out the neighbor if you can. I hope it’s not too bad a storm.
