I'm wondering what line to get, I usually go sea fishing for mackerel (from a pier) I also fish for Conger and dogfish. I also go trout fishing and extremely rarely I go pike fishing (2-3 times a year) what line should I be using for this? Should I use different lines or is there a single line I could use for all?

I’m no expert but I’d definitely only use 4-6 maybe 8lb test for trout.

How big are the trout? You want the thinnest lime you can get away with because they have great vision. I use 4 lb mostly, buy if there are big ones ill go to 6 lb. We fish big lake trout with 8 lb.

You only have one rig? Seems to be a lot of water you are covering.

I would imagine you are talking about sea trout and not freshwater trout. You probably will not catch a
freshwater trout on anything heavier than a 6# test. Sea trout, with their fangs, you will need a 10# to 20# test. If you are going after kings you are going to have to have a much heavier outfit with a large line capacity reel with a steel leader. For Spanish, the same outfit that you use for sea trout will work. I have no idea what a conger is and I have no idea why anyone would fish for dogfish. If I happen to catch a dogfish, I cut my line.
Conger =eel. I would fish for anything with gills.
If you are using just 1 rod for saltwater I would go with 20# braid or 15# mono. Tipped with 8 to 15# Floracarbon leader Pops
I stick with 12# test mono in most nearshore fishing and only go to 16# test mono on big spinning reel for snook. Found 10# or less to loose too many fish in saltwater applications and 16# about the biggest for long distance casting. Go to boat reel for more drag pressure and line strength like 40# snapper and 60# grouper and 80# on deep drop electric reels. 100# just too much to break if hung up. Then there is braid, cut you finger to the bone stuff, a whole different thing that fish can see too. Go figure what`s best for your application!

Re Dogfish: They are the fish in some of the Fish 'n Chips sold in Europe. I've personally made a delicious seafood bisque with them as primary ingredient. Soak the meat in a lemon water mix before cooking; it eliminates the sharky ammonia overtones. Conger Eels are also called Ocean Pout and are ugly but tasty.
