Beware of any "kinks" in the control cable, particularly where it exits the foot control but in general too. My foot control was in a recessed tray on the deck which kinked the cable slightly and caused the head to pivot back and forth relentlessly. I put a cedar shim under the front and it cured most of "spastic" pivoting.
