I wonder if there is any good way to know when you've taken +/-100 yds off so you can fill all 3 reels so you don"t end up with 150,150 and 30:{
If a line counter is the only way, then are there any reasonably priced ones that work?
Thanks!

I ordered 4 Berkeley line counters that Mount to rod
Amazon sent me 4 CASES of these.
I think there were 6 to a case
Gave a bunch away but I have a couple left
I’ll give you one if you pay postage. Or might be just as cheap to buy one.

Should be able to make this work in reverse.

Line counter would be best but you can also measure how long one wrap or five wraps equal with a tape measure or yard stick then count how May revolutions to estimate the length

Wow Ben. That would be more counters than Cabelas have at local store to serve you.

🤠

Head to the local HS football field. If the reel was full to begin with hand the rod to someone, open the bail on the goal line and head for the other goal line. Should be pretty close.

I never fill a spool with what i call main line. I use 75 yrds. I use a range finder set two pins get 75yd of line. Tie to backing n wind. If i can't get it all on i tie n walk again. Cut off backing. Tie n wind good to go. Works for me.

Thank You but I'm using mono like a dinosaur and a range finder would probly cost me more than a line counter. When I tried using the football field I foul hooked a linebacker and had to release him, he was under sized anyway but part of a big school!

They all have to be filled. A spinning reel won't cast good unless it is close to full.

I only use mono if catfish n panfish occasionally. Have you ever tried copolymer line? I do use that. Feel it's a good compromise between momo n floro 👍

The ones that have used are not too good.

What I did was to put a mark of 50-100-150 marks with paint on my curb.

I use them when I put line on my spinning reels.

You could also buy a very cheap line counter baitcaster and use it to measure line before putting it on your spinning reel
