A nice fish, Walleye. What lake are you fishing?
Nice catch walleye. Which is the best fresh water fish to eat in this world. Sure could use a freezer full lol
That is an impressive number of walleye for your trip...and from a canoe! Well done on what is known to be an absolutely delicious fish on your dinner table! Thanks for sharing your photo and story!

would love to know where you fished
Well thought it’s a good day for a fish story from the 70s. When I was a young boy I lived in Iowa and when school was out I would go down to the Des Moines river in the fall because the northern pike would be bitting. This particular day when I got there with my zebco 202 and 8 pound test there was an older man that had be fishing all day only about 20 yards from where I started throwing my frog colored two inch spoon across the river and reeling back and throwing across and reeling back. This went on for about ten minutes. Back to the older man he had caught a basket full of about 4 different kinds of smaller fish all day. Well all of a sudden bam felt a strike I jerked the rod up hard or as hard as a 5th grader could and saw the northern surface to top of water about 25 yards out in middle of river. I yelled I have a big one wanting to brag to the older man down the river bank. By now he had a bunch of family members show up found out later kids and grandkids. Back to the fish. They paid no attention to me. Well it felt like an hour but was probably 5 minutes I fought the fish every time I would get close to bank with him he would swim off about 20 yards all I ever knew was to push the button on my 202 so line would not break so I did this for probably 8 to ten times. By now the older man and his family new I wasn’t kidding about having a big one LOL. They come running over and I finally tired the fish down and got it up to shore and went to lift out of water and the line snapped but not before the older man had caught him with his net to save the day. I’m sure I had a smile a mile wide and I remember just saying over and over I told u I had a big one. Well of course back the there are no cameras LOL. He had a scale and it weighed 16 pounds as far as I know she was the biggest caught around that part of river that year. When went fishing at that age I hated cleaning them big slimmers so I would throw them back or in this case the older man gave me 5 dollars for the fish which would be about like 20 dollars now. So I took me and little brother to the movies that night. When got home from movie my folks asked me where we were so late on a school night. I told dad got 5 bucks for a big fish I caught and he just rolled his eyes and said go to bed. I heard him and my mom talking that night and my dad said what are we going to do about his fish lies. He always says he catches fish but we never see them. I guess god had a mission for me to bass fish and catch and release for my future LOL. Back to the fish I caught. The next night the local paper came out and there was the older man I sold the fish to. He had taken it to the paper and said he caught it😞 I told my dad that was my 5 dollar fish I sold he just rolled his eyes again 😞 but thank my little sister for coming home from school that next week and telling my mother and father that I wasn’t telling a fish story lie. It turned out that the older mans grand daughter was there at the river that evening when I caught the fish and she was in my sisters grade in school and found out I was her brother and they happened to be talking at school about me and my fish story and god saved the day thru his grand daughter. Funny thing then I got my butt chewed out from my dad for selling fish instead of bringing home 😂

That is a great story! The things we have all done when it comes to fishing as kids would be the subject of a very interesting book!
