What kind of hook set for Stripers? (saltwater)

How should I be setting the hook when fishing for Stripers and blues? I’m stripping line, something hits the fly. Should I strip set a few time and then raise the rod tip or should I immediately lift my rod tip?

Missed a lot of fish lately and must be doing something wrong.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Don’t know where you’re from or fishing salt or freshwater stripers but in NJ circle hooks are required when fishing live baits. With them, you let the line get tight and simply reel, no hook setting.

stripers attack bait or lures by using their tail to smack things toward their mouth often times with lures the hook catches under bottom lip which makes it easier to lose

With a fly rod just sweep rod, its not like setting hook on largemouth bass.
