Hello
I live in NH retired but avid trout and salmon fisherman and fly tier for years. I also love saltwater fishing for strippers and blues and flounder.
If anyone has reports on fishing in NH , Maine or Mass please let me know.
Your most overly stocked trout ponds in Massachusetts are Peter's Pond in Sandwich, and Little Pond and Long Pond in Plymouth. Trout fishing has gone deep with the hot summer weather coming on.
Stripers are starting to show in Massachusetts with the peak occurring in September. My favorite striper location is Cape Ann. Plum Island is ideal, but parking is a premium.
How is striped bass fishing at Plum Island recently. Have they moved into Merrimack river
I fished Connecticut river in Pittsburg nh last weekend. River had minimal flow but caught a lot of trout. Nice brookies to 18” and lots of smaller brookies, rainbows and browns. Mostly on small dark nymphs.
Haven't seen anything big yet. Some schoolies. They are hitting the CC canal pretty good, so they are working their way up.
Thanks for info.
Maybe the heat this week will bring them up
Merrimack not at typical june levels. boats catching some on macks. P.I. producing on lures bottom of tide.

Hi, Redduck !
Welcome to our Forum ! Are you
IN N.H., and if so, whereabouts ?
If you've been to the upper
Connecticut River, then you obviously don't mind a little driving - are you a shore fisherman, or do you have a small boat/canoe/kayak ?
Have you tried the Ammonoosuc
or the Androscoggin river ? They
are supposedly good for rainbows, browns and 'smallies', and are the
only places I know where night
fishing for browns is allowed -supposedly some pretty BIG
browns, at that !
Two small lakes that are usually
'low-traffic' fishing are Tarlton and Armington off of Rt. 25C in Piermont; Tarlton is cold and deep, and holds 'bows', lake trout and landlocked salmon; Armington is just across
the road and has some decent trout and 'smallies', but little shore access !
Another small, deep pond is Big Diamond Pond at Coleman State
Park in Stewartstown - it has some
BIG lake trout, as well as decent
'bows' and brookies, and largemouth bass ! The photo is just an example
of what's in there - I (for one) will
NOT be going anywhere that has ice !
Nice fish. Fishing looks HOT but it’s COLD 🥶

Wow, that lake trout is big enough to mount a motor on and drive around like a Ski Doo! The Northeast does indeedhave some fabulous fishing to offer. Spent 4 years in NH and had a blast catching a nice variety of fish, but nothing as large as that laker! Lake Winnipesaukee is a great one for smallmouth bass, and there are landlocked Atlantics in there too!
My favorite pursuits were for small brook trout in streams. Just about anywhere there was a trickle of water...you would find the "specs"! Lake Winnipesaukee is a good one for smallmouth bass as well as landlocked Atlantic salmon.
Plum Island fishing SUCKS! You have to be on a boat to find them otherwise you’ll be waiting for hours in hopes of a school to pass by.
Fished the jetty, beach and rivers around Plum Island and Salisbury State Park. Small schoolies at best.
