Live bait for a change

I was cleaning up a work area near my workshop. Lots of wood laying on the ground, most of it to be burned later. At the ground level there were a lot of slugs (look like snails without the shell). I thought that in all of the years I've fished, I have never used slugs as bait. I caught about a dozen of the larger ones, put them in a jar with a dampened paper towel to keep them from dehydrating. They are very slimy, but not too hard to put on a hook. I caught a sauger and a couple of smallies and one lmb. I am going to try for some bluegills and crappies this weekend if I find some more of the slugs.

Never tried that Grump. I find them under trash cans and flower pots on the ground in the yard

I have been told that they are attracted to beer. A little stale beer under a black plastic is supposed to bring them in.... IF you just happen to have a little bit left in the bottle. Notice I capitalized the IF!!!!!πŸ˜ƒπŸ™ƒ

Flyguy's right....they love certain species of my flowers, not too bad on the veggies. Beer for the attractant, table salt for the final hurrah.

Since Shellcrackers(Redears)eat snails and Slugs appear to be similar to Snails, it may be that Shellcrackers will try to eat Slugs.
