Good morning knuckleheads. 69 going to 97 today with a 1% chance of rain. That will be going to 0% tomorrow but temps are plummeting to 59 and 92. Hopefully, I'll be getting sunburned at Clear Lake tomorrow watching my poor little frog getting rudely exploded on by big LM's.
Fred hope you enjoyed your time off, now, GET BACK TO WORK!🤣🤣🤣

Knuckleheads? I go fishing early and Steve steals my opening. Lol. Bear and I got 4 largemouth and one catfish. All too small to keep. Bear lost another big bass. We are switching to 8lb test. Losing too many good fish to broken lines. 88, humid, chance of T-storms later. Have a good one clones and assorted ding dongs.

It’s good to hear you’ve gotten rid of the “rust”, Greg. It should be bigger and better from here!!
Switching to 8lb. should help land those lunkers. We’ll be expecting pictures soon.... 👍

That's great Greg, glad you had some fun. 8lb is much more reasonable for bank fishing. Good luck with the big girls.

Just a query, here ! When those fish 'broke off', was there a little curlicue
at the end of your lines ? Maybe you just need to check/secure your knots
a little more often or maybe find/ switch to a different or better
knot ?

Six pound test should be adequate
for most fishing situations for bass, trout, crappie, etc., unless you're fishing heavy cover or around sharp rocks, in which case you may want
to check frequently for line wear !
(Just askin' !)

It's an area with quite a few rocks. I think the knots are adequate although they could be an issue. Some big bass where we are fishing that I think are just too tough on a 4lb test. The line we are using is new.

Then the next question is - are your drags set properly ? I've lost a few decent fish that I might have landed had my drag been set properly - live and learn, I guess !

I adjusted the drag. Forgot about it with the new reel. Worked better today I think. I'm learning after about 40 years of not fishing at all.
