Ouch! That had to smart a little. Did you cut through the finger nail too? 🤕

No managed to just take all the meat off the thumb side from just above the knuckle to right past the side of the nail. Healing well, still heal up quick! Take that as a good sign. If only I could injure myself less!!!

Congrats on a great Father's Day J. But go ahead and treat yourself to a line upgrade to go with the boat! Doesn't look like you were trolling for trout in your pics?

Headed out to the Grand River to do a little fishing and have a Father’s Day picnic. Me and my family got out there early and got us the premium grill area. Put the boat in the water and just relaxed till my sister arrived. Had a nice barbecue then started taking people out for little 1/2hour boat ride “fishing trips”. All my siblings, my father, his wife, my step brother and sister plus my in-laws and all there kids, where all there. So nice to get extended family together for fun.

Didn’t catch anything on our little trips until my mother in law got her turn. I’m teaching her and my father in law how to use soft plastics because the both enjoy fishing and want to get into more bass. Bobber and worm pan fishers currently. As we are slowly working our way up the River she is throwing a TOKOYO rigged gobbie swim bait. All of the sudden she shrieks I’ve got one! So I through the boat and neutral. And begin to reverse back towards her line 100yrds behind us. At this point she says no I think it’s snagged you take it I don’t want to break it. I take the rod and just as I’m getting about 10 ft from the snag spot the drag starts to scream and it’s “fish on”!!!! The rig I’m using has 4lb Florocarbon on a light fast action rod, so I loosened the drag a couple clicks and started the battle. Had my wife grab the net and I asked my mother in law if she wanted the rod back. She said, “ Heavens no I just want you to catch this fish!” Fought it for a couple minutes then got it about 5 ft from the boat. Mother in law starts yelling at my wife, “ Mandy, Get the net ready!!” Wife barks back, “ mom relax it’s like you’ve never seen a fish!” Fish takes off on another run and and I can barely hold back the laughter. If it where just my wife and I she would have been freaking out!! Moms there she’s cool as a cucumber🤣🤣🤣🤣. Another minute or two of fight and the wife netted this beauty like a pro!!

Really enjoying the new boat and all the family fun it’s creating! Added a couple cool scenery pics in as well. I know what pleases the masses here.😂 Can you see the snake?

Be well,
J

Line is brand new on that rod usually use it for trout, pan fish, weightless Senkos and Neko rigs for bass. I was trying to teach her how to feel the bottom with the 1/4 oz TOKOYO rig wanted sensitive rod so she could really feel it. Plus that set up casts like a dream. Figured at best she’d hook a couple pound bass!🤣🎣

Sorry J... a little vague on my part. What I meant to suggest is that with today's fluorocarbon lines you can use 10 lb test for all of those types of fishing. It casts well and tips the odds in your favor when the occasional big one comes along. I use 12lb and my only complaint is my old eyes have a hard time seeing it when tying knots.
