Best combo?

I have a Shimano Stradic 3000 paired up with 20lb power pro braid. With a $250 budget, what rod do I pair it with? I target Trout, black drum, reds and snook. All smaller sized considering I fish the banana river and Indian river lagoon. With that in mind which rod should I buy? Also what length? 7’ or 7’6 and what action and taper? Thanks!

I would go with something 7'6" for fishing that area. The specific rod and action would depend on what type of lures you are throwing. Generally, I would look at something in a medium light or medium action. There are some great options from G Loomis, Star, Falcon, and St. Croix in your price range.

I throw mostly soft plastics. And which rod would you personally choose for that fishing under $250? Star plasma? Gloomis e6x inshore? St Croix Avid inshore? St. Croix Tidemaster?

St Croix Avid Inshore. Medium fast. Loomis Greenwater medium taper if you do mostly soft platics and spoons. IME, the St Croix will be more versatile (switch from live bait to soft plastics without a big difference in feel). When you get into the better Loomis stuff, they get pretty bait specific. Star makes a great rod, but they're not in the same class as St Croix and Loomis. Length comes down to personal preference. If you need to make a lot of long casts, go 7'6". If not, and especially if you're casting in tight areas, 7' is a good choice.

Given those choices, Avid Inshore all day.

Star rods are a no brainer in my opinion. I fish the exact same waters as you do. Indian and banana. They have a life time warranty. By them and bass pro, no questions asked even if they are broken in half, you get a replacement. 7 foot med action for that solid inshore, and I would cinsider it light action for offshore. 20 inshore braid, 40 offshore. Pm me if you ever want to get together for an inshore slam, I can hook you up.

Which star rod is your favorite? Stellar lite? Seagis? Plasma? Why not a 7’6?

How has the Banana River been fishing wise? I haven’t been to NMZ in a few years.
