I know what you mean Griz. I would prefer to buy American but social security doesn’t go far. Found my problem with the trailer lights. Both bulbs were blown up from hitting the water while hot and they are corroded too. I’ll be getting LEDs tomorrow.
And then it’s off to the lake! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

You sure FD? Never heard of lights doing that.

I’m just guessing that the previous owner backed in without disconnecting the plug and had his lights on. Hot bulb hitting cold water isn’t a good thing. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. I was wrong once before. πŸ˜€

Depending on the age of the trailer i wouldn't think that shouldn't happen. I never un hooked mine even saw the lights glowing underwater.

Are you sure you were wrong that one time, maybe it was just a misunderstanding.

I've never unplugged mine either Plum. Most are made to act like an upside down glass, the air trapped inside keeps the water out. If there's a slight crack in the lens though, the air will escape and let the water in.

That's great FD you'll like the ledl lights brother. I still unplug mine n put plug in truck. Jackasses steal the plugs at times. Many of us have had trouble getting things right. O ce they are the fun begins. I luv being in the water when the idiots aren't out there. Y'all enjoy stay safe. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ£πŸŽ£

One thing i doubt has been metioned. Turn depth finder off. Some say it will hurt them. I'm not so sure. I drove 125miles with mine on one time. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Mine are sealed so I just back in but there are unsealed and backing them in without unplugging will blow the bulbs.

Some older light assemblies weren't designed to be waterproof. Some were made to have a small opening at the bottom but water couldn't get in. Think a jar put in water upside down

FD one more thing about boats. Don't ever trust anyone else to put the plug in. When i got my first boat i had an experienced boater with me. After our 125mile trip i got to pre launch area. Say I'm giung ti restroom 1st. I got back he said i got everything ready. I jumped in boat off the trailer i went. I started get set up n looked in splash pan. I'm wondering why it's still full of water. I pulled the belly board up to find a belly full of water. No plug. I got plug in no fun it was Oct n the water was cold. Turned on bilge pump it was running but nothing came out. The discharge hose was broken. Now i make sure i put plug in. I installed back up bildge pump. I also put enough water inside of her to be sure pump is working n water is going OUT. I plumbed my back up pump to go out over transom. πŸ‘πŸ‘
