Noticed your hat, did you work that fire?
I had a chain saw store in mariposa county California during the Stanislaus complex fire and CALFIRE asked me to camp at the base camp and keep them supplied with saws, chain etc. I was there for 2 weeks. Interesting experience.

FD, yes, i still work fires, at 72 y.o.
Last year with CalFire team 5 on CZU fire. Then in OR and NM. I'm a PIO these days.
I'll be available for an assignment starting next week. Could be a good season. More $$s for fishing essentials!

Yup, the thing is a monster. Should have had my bait caster rather than my spinning rod.

Wildland Fire, contact one of your local CalFire stations, or a contact you made on the last Fire. I've been doing this for almost 30 years, so, the level I'm at is pretty high. But it's exciting and a lot of fun, and in CA there is no lack of opportunity to get out.
