If anyone has plans to visit and fish this area, go to the east coast of paradise instead. Red Tide is blooming around here, dead fish on the beaches, respiratory issues as well.........somewhere around Sebastian Inlet is good. I need to relocate

We have a home in Punta Gorda, Charlotte county. We go a few times a year. Red Tide is an issue but I don't fish there, don't know much about salt water fishing and don't have a boat. I fish a little off my dock in the channel but never caught anything.

Terrible effect on the fish population when that happens. Lived on the left coast for ten years and red tide is devastating. Fishing really sucks when that happens. But on the east coast you have one constant megalopolis from Jacksonville to Miami. Too many people. When you move to “paradise” you find out it isn’t paradise after all. Not much magic left in the kingdom.

Yes, but the word has gotten out on that area and north of there. I hope that area never gets developed more than it is now

Hopefully the state will look into the causes ( development) and start protecting these coastal areas.

Man, that’s nice country and nice water from there on up the big bend. Boater beware! That place can be hell on props. Keep going up 19 and take a left on 24. You’ll run right into Cedar Key, a real low key place to fish and relax. Where the locals were friendly and showed up at the pier with rods, crab traps and coolers with ice and beer. Good times.

Sorry to hear that sinker and all because of that big spill. When it happens down here I switch to fresh water to satisfy my addiction. 😎

Manatee are dying off in droves and I believe Red Tide is ruining their food supply.

Spending the summer in PA, I go back to Tampa Bay in the Fall. We knew this was coming decades ago when they warned abut the holding ponds. They did nothing, now we pay the price. It will keep happening until Florida elects a government who stands up for the people instead of themselves. Never had to happen. 25 years ago USF released a study saying the ponds would collapse - no one listened.

No it isn't from the spill. Twice a week I get the red tide report.
