I remember watching for Burma shave signs on trips as a kid but most were gone by the time I started driving.

As a kid traveling with parents, all eyes were always looking for the Burma Shave signs, except Dad, his were on the road - didn’t want to be a riddle on one of the signs himself. Fun times!😀

Between keeping an eye out for Burma Shave signs, Historical Markers....my father's passion (my Mom liked to call 'em "Hysterical Markers" 'cause my Dad would drive waaaay off our planned route to find one he read about !) and playing "license tag bingo" or "I spy with my eye", we were never bored on a car trip..... didn't need no stinkin' DVD player or I-pad games.

I still have a (kinda uncomfy !)folding camp stool that my Aunt Irene gifted me, that she acquired from "Green Stamps" nearly 60 years ago. Not sure whether she collected them from the grocery or a gas station or ?

And BTW.... she was my dad's oldest sister, who married a fellow local (Kansas) of German descent....his surname was.......Hess !

Long car family trips with us four kids...Burma Shave signs, "My eye", "Ghost" [word spelling game], making images out of the clouds, and the one we saw more than everything "See Ruby Falls." And still haven't been there, lol!

Remember "See Rock City!" a plastic strip that if you pulled it with your thumbnail on it just right would make this sound as if it talked! Just Sayin...RJS

Something like that at the shoulders of our roads. Grooves cut into the road would play the William tell ovature as the tires went over them to wake up drifting drivers.
