Line Problems

So I got a new rod (spinning reel) and was fishing with it normally until somehow my line got loose and it cut off (it was dark so im not really sure what happened) so I openned the reel and pulled some line up through the holes so i could put a new hook and lure on. I put the hook and lure on and casted and noticed that when I was holding the line to the rod to cast it was loose and not tight like usual. I casted it and it would only go about 5-6 feet infront of me. I casted several times and it was not going as far as it used to.

The other thing to check is if you put the line on backwards. Yup, that happens and causes the line to come off the the reel when the bale is open )like you noticed) causing back-lash and bad casts. When putting line on the reel, make sure the spool is turning the same way as the reel take-up. Will solve a lot of problems!

Remember to always replace the line that comes with any new Reel for best performance!!💥
Reel Manufacturers use very cheap ol' fish'n line

Make sure the line goes under the bail. Open the bail (that holds the line on the spinning reel), then run your line through the rod guides. Then shut the bail (or reel the line in and it should shut itself). If that doesn't help, take in into any sporting goods stores and they may be able to assist. Good Luck!

If you bought a combo rod reel with spooled line get rid of the line. You don’t know how long that line was on that real. Mono and flouro set after a while and misbehave badly, even top quality line. I totally respool my flouro and mono reels once at the beginning of the season and again about half way through . I gave up on 4 lb test flouro and mono. I know spool my 1000’series ultralights with 10 lb braid And long mono for flouro leaders . If you are new to fishing take your reel to a tackle shop or retailer that can respool line and buy new line .
