Hello! My name is Roger, I live in Clarksburg, WV. I am new to this site and noticed that I can not find a whole lot (some) of information on fishing in WV, or any specific lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.! So i decided to create this topic and, hopefully, get some good information, feedback, tips, tricks, maybe some info on honey holes, or even some places I or anybody else on here haven't gotten to, or don't know about. I hope that it will carry on the tradition of true WV heritage of always helping anyone, whether it be your family, a neighbor, or a complete stranger, we are ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand! I have lived here my whole life and grew up fishing all over the state! I love trout fishing, largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, musky, and of course catfish! If they are biting, I like to catch em! I'd also like to know if there are any good ponds left to fish? Growing up they were EVERYWHERE! Some of my best memories were at those little "secret" ponds! Now, all those are gone or nobody is allowed there! So, I'd like to find some to take my 3 kids to! Also, any up to date or personal knowledge of the Tygart River, Tygart lake, Stonewall Jackson lake, Stonecoal lake, Dog Run lake, or any others in the general area are particularly in my interest, since I am at one of them almost every day!! Do most of my fishing out of a boat now in eastern Ohio . Mike in Parkersburg will probably be of more help to you than I. Hello from a West Virginia fisherman, happy to have you here on the site.. I fish most of WV. The big and not so big impoundments are great to fish on. The streams and rivers are fun if you don't mind getting wet. Summersville is very good at the up stream parts where there is not so much boating. Woodrum is a 10 hp lake, full of bass and the occasional muskie. At Hinton, small mouth at the Sandstone Falls area, and the Gauley Bridge confluence of the New and Gauley, are my favorites. Thank you to everyone that has left a comment!! My family and I have been busy (alot of days on the river and lake!) I kinda forgot to check back! To be honest I was pretty surprised to have the comments that I had!! I wish i had checked back sooner! I will be sure to do it more often now! Im already checking on some of the locations mentioned and i have been to alot of them! We done ALOT of trout fishing at Spruce Knob, Smoke Hole, Shavers Fork, Etc, Etc,. I still like to do that in the cold! Been doing alot of bass fishing and catfishing lately! Id still like to do some pond fishing with the kids if anyone knows of any. I know of some around the clarksburg area but none really past that! Anyway, hope everyone is catching the big ones! HAPPY FISHING!.... ps i still havent heard from wvmike! Im looking forward to doing so though! Seems like EVERYONE knows him!! haha!
