Drifting New Pass

Took the guys out yesterday on Estero Bay. Anchored just off the channel along an oyster bar during the start of the incoming tide. Caught a couple dozen decent mangroves on live shrimp. Then the slime cats showed up so we moved to the New Pass and drifted. Caught a ton of lady fish. Not good to eat, but they are a ball to catch. Real tail-dancers. Here’s a couple. They were all the same size.

chunk up those ladyfish they are great bait for redfish among others--including pinfish--which also are good baits freelined.

Sounds like a fun day, and those LadyFish look like Mini Torpedoes.

Sure is beautiful water BB. Just getting out in some water like that would satisfy me.

Very little to none from New Pass to Wiggins Pass. I fear things will change though. There hasn’t been much rain yet this year. When it comes and the larger releases from Lake O begin, a bloom will probably occur.😕

Yeah, experts are expecting a major bloom here in the bay after that Piney Point spill. Some fish are being caught on the NSP, but the SSP seems to be dead now. A good Tropical Storm might help

I’m sick and tired of the havoc fertilizer has on our estuaries Sinker Rig. Haven’t been able to keep snook, reds or trout for over 3 years here. At least the trout are finally open. No snook or reds until at least May 2022. And if it isn’t the red tide it’s the cold for the snook. We haven’t had a temperature kill here for quite some time though. I guess global warming is good for something. Good luck up there buddy!😎
