I guess I am one of those guys but I do know that 20mph is too fast in a small boat crossing a big wake from another boat. Your boat did not have enough time to ride up the wake so it stuck it’s nose into the big wake and you got wet. I would bet that next time you will slow down.

H25.... knowing Ben, he'll probably not bother responding to you but, I will. First things first, Ben the man. High character, a man's man, confident and skilled fisherman and boat operator. The kind of guy you'd be honored to call friend. If you read his post properly it does not say, Wow! Look at that big wave. O think I'll take it at 20 mph. His post is about how things can turn in the blink of an eye. He states all the conditions on the lake that day. He sees the two boats ahead. His experience tells him be aware. He cuts his speed in half! Half!! The first wave, everything's cool but the second wave is a double. Both wakes came together causing a deeper trough not a taller wave. So you don't see it until you are into it. I applaud Ben for telling the story. It's a learning lesson. I also applaud him for having PDF's on. H25 if it's in your nature to be critical feel free to beat me up for not having a PDF on in a bad situation. I deserve it, Ben does not.

I thought he handled the situation quite well and took good care of his granddaughter.

Believe me when people visit my place I tell them right up front this isn’t lake of the ozarks. If you are looking for that kind of “fun” you are headed the wrong way.

It still comes down to too much speed and not letting the boat ride the wake. He should have slowed even more.
I can only go by what he said in his story of cutting his speed to 20mph which on the water is pretty fast in a small boat.

That’s a damn shame Jwid. Lake of the Ozarks used to be a Great Lake to fish. I guess what you’re referring to is race boats, ski boats, and jet skis. How’s Table Rock?

Jw, did Town Lake in Springfield become Fellows Lake? I caught my first black bass in Town Lake, fly fishing with my grandfather. He taught me how to fish from age six.

For some reason I can't get the visual of you H25, operating a boat and sitting in the middle of the lake in Neutral. Got your map pencil and binoculars out.... plotting that safe route. Lol. What you need is a 70mph ride in a bass boat from one end of a lake to the other end.
Ben, I tried to hide your need for speed but H25 here sniffed you out! I guess you need to come out of the closet!

Ben, fast is cool when it’s safe but most of the speeders take too many chances which sometimes involves innocent victims, like yourself and your granddaughters, especially if they’ve been drinking. I know this is all behind you now but the subject keeps coming up. You did all the right things and you all got out of there safely. End of subject...

Thanks all , even the critical posts.
Moral of the story. Be aware, be safe . Keep your passengers safe and live another day.
