Questions regarding metal Leaders and quick disconnects

So, I have recently grown a bit curious regarding those 2 subjects. Just to give some Context, I live in Brazil and I mainly go for larger fish like Pacus and Catfish on lakes.

First about the QDs, I usually like to carry my rigs disassembled and assemble then once I'm at the lake, is there an issue with using QDs? I know they are not great with artificial bait as they often intervene with the action of the lure, but what about hooking them to a spinner on floater rig or a catfish rig? Are they a weak point, are there any issues with them? I just don't see too many people use it. I like to swap my rigs quite often to adjust for depth and stuff, so a QD would make stuff quite a bit easier

And for leaders Is there anything wrong with using a metal lead? I often get fish with teeth or just have to deal with rocks and wood on the bottom and the line easily gets cut, like on Pacus, Dourados or on larger Cats, but its also another thing I noticed not many people doing, and instead doubling the line or using another material.

What is your advice on those 2?

In a lot of cases the QDs are just an extra piece of hardware. Its not that much of a problem to tie a new knot. as far as the wire, if you need it and the fish aren't line shy use it.

Just an FYI, for some of us older folks, tying a new knot is a time consuming project. I use GD's now whenever practical. I always make sure I use the ones with round pin so as to not restrict the lure movement. I always used the swivel combination type on spinners and spoons. An example of not being practical is when tying a wacky rig or Texas rig. Just an old man's input.
