Own thousands of dollars in equipment, but no clue how to use it!

Hey guys, over the years i've accumulated tons of rods, reels, and tackle kits. I live right on the Saint John's river in florida about 18-25 miles from the ocean inlet. I've got all the equipment i could ever need, but no idea how to use it. i've fished maybe a total of 14 times and just went out yesterday for about 3 hours with shrimp as bait and caught a decent size bass, but otherwise had no bites!

The main dock i have access to is wide open water in all directions, the current changes from north to south occasionally when it storms, and im about 800 feet from the matthews brige (large span). one problem is the water is about 6 feet all around, i'm not sure if i can cast far enough from my dock to get out into the dredged channel..

currently i've dug from my garage only one tackle kit with small-medium single hooks, some small rubber grubby things, a couple solid plastic bois with eyes and a feathery tail, and small weights.

i know i have a LOT more but i have to dig it out, there's about 4 fully stocked tackle boxes around this place somewhere i just need to find them.

leave me some suggestions!

Best advice I could give is to use YouTube and watch some tutorials then just go and fish a lot more.

This is exactly right. Watch other people do it then try it yourself and learn. I will say though it's much more manageable if you separate it into what you're fishing for. Not all baits and tackle or rods and reels are made for every fish.

Is the water brackish where you are?

Your fishing spot is convenient to you but not to the fish. Find another spot. Look for structure: changes in depth, points, dropoffs, channels, etc.; something fish can identify and distinguish from everything else. Fish don't care for underwater deserts. Good fishing spots may be more difficult to access but they hold more fish and the more fish the better your chance of catching some.
