A poem
"Walk with me whilst I age"

This is a beautiful poem about growing older

It is so beautiful that I had to fight back the tears
I really hope it has the same effect on you that it did on me
then quoting it for you
will be worth my effort

Damn it to hell
I forgot the words :!:

Maybe this is it, Ol' Feller...WALK WITH ME BY THE WATER...or, close enough

Aged and slow are the steps I take,
to the lake where the water flows free.
Humbled am I, by the quiet beauty,
that God has blessed and given me.

Through the years I will remember
the goodness of my life, not the bad.
It takes only the peace of the water
to appreciate the love that I've had.

There is this miracle of the water,
that makes our lives worth the while.
These memories will live on forever,
and bring with them, surely a smile.

Come walk with me by the water,
hold me and make my life shine.
We are given the gift of the moment.
it was never to be simply mine.
.
Aged and slow are the steps I take,
to the lake where the water flows free.
Humbled am I, by the quiet beauty,
that God has blessed and given me.

Actually, D, the following is probably the one BB couldn't remember...

WALK WITH ME AS I AGE

They say that you can measure age-
By the way you feel.
That growing old is optional,
That old age isn’t real…

I have a hard time grasping that,
As my hair turns grey and thin:
And joints that once were supple,
Today will hardly bend.

My strength from other, better days-
Has sprouted wings and flown,
And nearly all my family-
I find are dead and gone.

But I’m not mourning; not at all-
Life does reciprocate.
And beauties oft amaze me-
Especially here of late.

My fading strength has slowed me down-
So now I take the time,
To smell the roses that I pass,
Enjoy life sublime.

Relationships mean so much more-
As I draw near the end-
And family more precious,
As well as every friend.

So slow your step, yea, take your time-
Ere we pass off the stage…
Won’t you walk a mile with me,
As I so quickly age?

Did it start out "There was a young man from .........."?

He could what?
What?

Well, I think the following one from me is probably it.

I had been taking a leave of absence, but figured you were lost without me. So, I thought I'd return to salvage your presence on The Stage.
