I am looking for recommendations on a combo pole on bait/lure fishing on ponds and waterways in Ohio. It’ll be mostly bluegill, crappy, and small mouth bass.

I have a cheapy eagleclaw pole I got as a gift and I am looking to upgrade.

I went to field and stream’s online shop and have no odea where to begin. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Go to Walmart and get a 7’ ugly stick with the cork handle. Great for smaller fish. Pair it with a abu Garcia size 30 or 40 from Walmart also.

Why do you want to use a medium heavy outfit for these species. I use light action 6-10lbs.

My fav cheaper rod for pan fish is my Cabela’s. Fish eagle ultra light 5.5 rod with a 2500 series reel , spooled with 6 lb mono. Look for it on sale at cabela’s or bass pro. Apparently some Walmart’s sell decent fishing equipment mine does not . It’s all kids spin cast, low end rods and if they sell a reel it’s all plastic junk. Seriously a bunch ok ok ugly sticks and not one reel most of the time

If you are budget minded
A Pflueger President reel paired with a Berkeley lightning rod will serve you nicely
