So I was cleaning out the van then I put the two rods I always carry with me on the roof while I did so.
Got done, jumped in the van, drove 17 Miles to a little fishing hole on the way to a job it was about 6:30 in the morning so I figured I could toss a line in for an hour or so and then get to work.
It was kind of windy so when I got to my spot I turned around to grab my spin caster rod and tie on a lure and realized it was not in the van and then I remembered that I had left them on the roof!
Oh crap I just lost two nice rods, one flyrod one Spincast! reels, new line, and everything else.
Got out of the van and saw that the fly rod hadn’t moved from the roof and the spin caster rod was hanging by the handle from the roof rack!
Feeling pretty good and lucky, you tell me the good Lord doesn’t want me to fish!
You sure it's god wants you to fish? Seems to me god woulda given you a nudge and let you know you was messing up. Remember Flip Wilson? "Da Debil made me do it!"

Sounds like something I would do lol
Only I would have lost 2 rods
Well when I think about it, yes! I’m pretty sure if there is a God he/she/it would want me to fish.
My kind of God anyway

Remember that lucky day when the collection basket comes your way Bob. What goes around comes around.
Wow...what relief to find both rods nearly intact as they were when you put them there. I immediately think of 4 things:
1. You are a careful driver.
2. Your roads are smooth.
3. The suspension in your van is in working order.
4. God is indeed looking out for you!
My own experience is that I have had rods fall off and when I go back to retrace my steps I find them mangled and mutilated! Still does not dampen my spirit, but has made me more cautious in the future. Now, when I even "think" of temporarily placing one up on the roof I stop and say to myself "no...remember what happened last time...don't do it again"!
Lucky you had the rack. Maybe things have been lost from roof tops. I had a neighbor that was working on his car n shooting birds behind his house. This young boy shut the hood jumped in n took off down the road. One minir problem. He left his Remington 760 30/06 on the roof. He came back but the Remington was gone forever. We've all done it 👍👍
