So I have been gettin’ real comfy with spinnerbaits lately and was curious what you guys’ thoughts on trailer (i.e. paddletail, grub, etc.) vs no trailer. Does anyone notice a difference either way?

I like my spinnerbait trailers thin and not bulky.
Something like a straight tail worm , mr twister worm or a venom super do . Sometimes a 3 1/2 inch swim bait like a Keitec
Ez shiner.
Also I like to run em a little on short side. Bite off enough to give you about 4 to 4 1/2 inches
Also like contrast to skirt color.
White or chartreuse shirt, green pumpkin or black trailer.
Dark skirt , lighter trailer.
Use a bit of super glue to hold em in place.

We put northern minnows on a spinner. We used live minnows for Northern and bass would take it too. Inevitably some of those large minnows would die in the bucket. We put those on the spinner. Put the hook in under the head and bring it out the top between the eyes. The middle of the head is skull and if you hit it right the minnow will stay on awhile. Northern love it. Down side is sometimes they grab the minnow and not the hook but at least you got their attention.

Always cut my skirt short and ALWAYS add a trailer.
Most always use white or chartreuse and white skirt with a 4” trailer in white.

I use I twin tail thin trailer to get the spinnerbait length, the only time I will add a grub is to have spinnerbait run higher in the water. adding a trailer hook also gives a better chance at the short striking fish. Depth can also be changed by using different size blades.
