I was just wondering how many fish on you guys catch every hour you spend fishing?
I know nothing about fishing and would like to know.

Depends on the type of fish. how your fishing. Where your fishing. Weather. Time of year. Type of lures/bait. Tons of variables with fishing.

The last time you went fishing for more than 2 hours.

The last time is completely different from the time before that and will likely be different from the next time, which I think was the persons point.
I always hope I get at least one, and that doesn’t always happen.

I got skunked. Fished all day. But that rockfishing sometimes. We had a couple on the line but they got off. They were big too.

Last time I went for over 2 hours we didn’t even get a bite. Time before that I lost count of how many crappie we caught. Too many variables there. Best thing to do is just enjoy your time and try to learn something new each trip.

There are many variables my friend!

Best worst and average? or is there no average in fishing.

I only fish steelhead, so Ive gone many trips without even getting a hit in the winter. up to 10+ trips. Where now in the spring I know some people won't get a fish, but I've gotten 10+ fish on my last trip.
I don't think there is an average in fishing. Learn your waters, learn the fish you're targeting, think like them and you will gain a higher 'average'.
Also, Learn that you're out on the water and even if you dont catch anything, its still better than what you were going to be doing anyway.

No real average.
Last time out I caught 1. My 5 year old caught 4 and my GF's nephew caught 4. We were fishing for brim.
I've caught 26 trout in a day. I've caught 0 trout in a day.
I've been fishing for big fish and caught none while my girlfriend caught dozens of a different species at the same time.

I would say a normal to good average is 0.25 fish per hour.

I agree. This is pretty accurate.

Zero 😂 "That's why we call it fishing not catching"
My husband and FIL usually average about 25 fish total for 7-8 hours on the boat, but sometimes they catch 50 and other times they catch zero. They fish for bass and catch mostly LMB, crappie, catfish, and the occasional brim.

The numbers are all over the place really. On my main freshwater lake, I'm battling the wind in my kayak all day, there's a lot of fishing pressure, and it's a big place, so a good day is 6 bass in 6-8 hours. Once in a while I get skunked, but I generally catch at least 1-2 dinks at worst, and average 3-4 fish. On amazing days I've gotten in the dozen range, but those are fairly rare most places I can easily drive to near me. Now if I'm just looking to catch something, I can double or triple those numbers pulling in bluegill and whatnot, but I'm there looking for bigger fish, and to get some exercise, see some wildlife, etc more than volume.
Fishing a marsh or surf fishing on vacation, if the tide and the fish schools are right, I've caught probably a dozen fish in an hour for a couple of hours until the tide changed or the schools moved on. Average is a lot lower since I'm generally targeting fish I can eat, so during the 2-3 hours of prime fishing time when the tide is coming in or going out, I will catch 0-6 reds/grunts/flounder/etc, and 3-9 undersized or unwanted fish.
Fishing reefs or wrecks, there's a lot more travel time to get there, but for the several hours of fishing, on a good day I'm pulling in 4-8 fish an hour with 1-2 keepers or so.
There are days where I catch way more or way less.

Fishing is definitely not a numbers game. Theres no average. Too many variables, too much unpredictability.
