Caught 3 today, quick release on all

Went to the lake this morning. The charts said today would be best day of the month, so I told my wife I HAD to go fishing. She is p...ed off but she'll get over it. Won't ruin 48 years of marriage over fishing. Anyways, 3 bass, 2 jumped out of water and spit the hook and the other jumped out of water attacking bait but never took hook. Beautiful day out and by the water. Guess I'll never pay attention to charts and forecasts, they're as good as weathermen. Guess I'll have to try again.

At least you had some action YB. I hear some of these guys saying that they have been out 3 or 4 times and haven't gotten a bite. How was the wind up there? It was gusting pretty heavy down here. The weekend isn't looking too good weather wise, I'm hoping they're wrong.

Hi Fred
Breezy at times, but not bad. Really was a nice morning. 3 fish took an interest, but no other signs of life. Water very clear and I saw nothing not even bait fish. It has to happen soon. Have you heard anything about spawn starting? Hope you get out and catch this weekend.

Maybe down in the southern part of the state YB. The water is about 5-10 degrees warmer than upstate. A few more warm days and nights will help things catch back up to normal. I hope so too.

Way to go out there and have fun catching some fish when the opportunity arose! I know that guilty feeling of trying to play on all sides of the "compromise fence" when it comes to getting some "alone time" on the water.

I'd much rather include my better half on my adventures, but it's just not in her DNA...although she has nicknamed herself "auto pilot" when we are trolling in the boat and I am setting lines.

It seems like there is nowhere over the past several weeks that has been "on fire" with fish catching activity yet. Yes...we are all catching some, but I think less than our desires or expectations. I think we are still coming out of a chilly Springtime season, with inconsistent weather, pressure and whatever else affects the feeding frenzies in the water!

Although that being said, I do recall seeing a fish landing net bulging with bluegills a few days ago on a post that required a hand truck dolly for transport!

Sometimes a guy has got to do what a guy has got to do. But flowers are good bail out now and then Yankee.

I know what you mean about the charts. I would have a 2 week schedule all set up for review each day and it just adds up the disappointment. Now i go with low expectations and the surprise catch is the prize.

Hey YB, at least you took a good shot at some nice fish. Don't we all wish we had a $1 for every fish that jumped out of the water and spit the hook. The ones I hate are those that look you in the eye before they do it.

You are right Plum. She gets flowers for no reason, but never holidays like valentines day. She gets taken care of, she deserves it for putting up with me for 48 years.
