Was blessed to finally get out again on Saginaw bay. A lot of folks were cleaning white bass at the cleaning station along with their walleye. Anyone tried them? I might have to. We tossed all ours we caught.
Honestly, White Bass is VERY GOOD table fare.
You must remove all of the red meat (that is not good).
Some people only keep the top white loin, but I "zipper" the red meat out like a walleye and keep both the top and the bottom.
They are very good eating if you trim off the red meat.
I'll have to keep a couple and try them. Thank you

Nice sunrise, sunset picture! Have never seen a white bass but as much as I like to eat fish would do further investigation.
My brother loves em. Im not a fan. too many crappie, bluegill perch and walleye for me to fool with them.
They are a blast to catch.

i eat them without trimming any red meat all and they are just fine. throw them on ice the moment you catch them. filet them as soon as you get home. wash the filets in water. freeze them in ziplock bags half filled with water. they will be like fresh caught next year.
Thanks for all the good info. Hope to get out again this weekend. I'll have to keep a couple if we catch any.
