Psst! U Want Some Cake?

My nephew, Christian, the wannabe paratrooper did not get along well with his drill instructor. He was always in the doghouse, and for this was drawing some extra punishment along the way. Now his punishment in the Army did not come close to matching what some of my classmates experienced in the U.S. Marine Corps being left unconscious with a broken nose for a perceived smart remark.

Christian related that while he was on KP duty in the mess hall when his company had been on some form of punishment for an infraction of the rules. They were forbidden to have any cake as punishment by their drill instructor. Christian, always with a good heart, and willing to take a risk, would offer a piece of cake to his buddies, by saying, “slip it under your piece of bread, he will never see it”.

Well, as any veteran of any service would instinctively know, he did see it. And so, Christian’s punishment for an indefinite period was to have to eat only flat cake for an indefinite period. Nothing but cake. Not only nothing but cake, but for long period of time. Later when his Company was in the field on some training exercise, Christian was still on a pan cake diet on orders of his Drill instructor, to the point of finally getting so s**k of it, he was throwing up. I suppose this was the signal the D I was expecting and only then did he relent and let Christian go back to normal chow.

It is amazing to me that Christian’s thinking, like that of many of his generation is that the rules are not made for him, but someone else. Second, that he will never get caught, those in authority are not able to catch a smart kid like him. It is amazing that he did not realize that D.I, had been once a rookie going through the same training, then been on active duty for years, and the due to being an exemplary example, been promoted to being a D.I. who would know all the tricks, how rookies thought and always be a “step ahead” of the trainees. This wasn’t the movies where the rookies always outsmart their superiors.

All this leads me to wonder just how many new recruits today are of the same mold. Who think, their parents or superiors are block heads, are unable to understand or figure out what the new recruits are planning or trying to do secretly. Is their attitude a reflection of all the permissiveness that has been the way children are taught today, following Dr. Spock’s belief and teaching there should be no corporal punishment, but just talking and reasoning would solve all the discipline problems?

Well, after a generation or two of kids who believe they are entitled to any and everything, it is obvious to me the good doctor was full of crap. Well, you can almost see the wheels turning in small children’s heads when being lectured about doing the right thing! They are thinking, “yeah, yeah, hurry up and get your speech over with, I know it by heart.”

Nothing works better than hearing your father pulling his belt off, In pr********n to a bit of leather discipline! Well, sooner or later, these kids who now believe they can get away with almost everything and only to face a stern lecture if they get caught are in for a world of bad results and poor decisions. Like Christian they will be eating a lot of flat cake, fully believing it is not their fault. Failure after failure, but none of it my fault!

Well, society had better get a grip and tighten up on the cinch strap and discipline their children better, or we are headed for Hell in a hand basket. It may already be too late, just look at most of our colleges and universities are now being taught by professors who are the proven results of this form of education. Socialism, c*******m and anarchy are served de Jour everywhere you look.

Feel free to disagree with me. I hope very much that I am wrong, but scared silly that I am not. Just Sayin…RJS

RJS I think you said it well but the problem is not just with this new generation of kids but this generation of parents who let the schools, hospitals, politicians and etc. in affect raise the kids for them and not only take their responsibility as parents serious but demand that they are the ones raising their kids not the village which to often ends up being the village i***t. As an Elder of your church in the past you are keenly aware that God sets the example for us to follow. He disciplines us because He loves us and He knows where wrongful thinking and acting ends up and it is a lot worse than the discipline he dishes out. The same thing as you have pointed out is true for parents who discipline their children out of love in order to spare them the price of the follies of life. thanks for the reminder

You are absolutely right Mr. Samples. Just think, these are the people that will be running the country in the not too distant future. Scary thought.

In my opinion, Robert, you are absolutely right in your thinking and observance of today’s world. Kids are taught to follow the leader and we all know who the, supposed, leader is. We’re doomed if we’re counting on the current generation to lead this country. They are being, well, schooled on how to divide and rule through a c*******t program. There’s no history in school any more. There’s no math or science much to speak of. It’s all neutral g****r or g****r identity, turn you parents in if you hear that belt slipping through the belt loops, parents are not allowed to discipline their child and most don’t want to anyway. Our country is being flooded will, decease-caring, i*****l i*******ts promoted many the current administration and legal American citizens are being tossed to the curb by the very people elected to protect our rights and safe way of life. It’s not getting any prettier as the days go by for sure.

It's just a gut feeling, but, what made America great will rise again. Like godzilla coming out of the bay.

I kinda have that feeling too but I live in an area that don’t do what the government tells them to do and the young ones around here have a whole different schooling process and good morals. Very few have cell phones and they’re always out helping with community projects. Maybe there IS hope.👍

Today children are not taught any general or overall respect of anything,They gleen their morality from a computer screen,This lack of actual human interaction is like a freight train going down the mountain with no brakes. This has created generations of nothing but boo hoo,Woo is me! Iam sure in the future new borns will have an ultra chip put in,where A. I. Will educate them directly to their main cortex. Scary for sure. 2525 where your arms and legs have nothing to do,some machine is doing that for you.
