Fred, Iโ€™ve got a Leopard Tortoise that doesnโ€™t understand a thing my wife tells it, but itโ€™s still smarter than these weirdos.

This is not new folks. I retired from the Navy in 1989 and attended San Diego State. I graduated high school in 1966, so I got most of my primary education in the 50's and early 60's. The "kids" I was going to college with got there's for the most part in the 70's. I was taking a junior level geography class (emphasis on junior, that's the third year of college) and first day of class the prof handed out a map of the u.s. with no names, asked us to sit there and fill in the names of as many states as we could. Then we handed them in. Next class she came up to me and said "well you blew away the curve on that one". I asked why. She told me the average score on her little quiz was -wait for this - THREE.
This was over thirty years ago. I have some pretty harsh opinions of why these kids are so ignorant. And believe me it is ignorance, not stupidity or attitude.

I believe the worst thing that ever happened to our education system in this country was the creation of the Department of Education by Jimmy Carter in the late 70's.

I believe you Spirit that itโ€™s ignorance but itโ€™s also laziness on their part to not care. They make me sick. All I did was graduate High School and make it through Nam. But I learned a lot about other countries and life in general because at 19 years old I GREW UP. I went on to work in a Chemical Plant until I retired. Think about it. I was in charge of six-coworkers and a 500,000 million dollar plant, on a high school diploma. The only thing that might have gotten in my way of getting the job was...
I was a Vietnam Combat Veteran.

I think Cam nailed it. Let's pump more money into education and teachers. Obviously, it really works. Unreal!

Gotta keep em dumb to keep em under your thumb.

Teachers and professors now teach the greatness of socialism and the evils of America...makes me sick.

With the last few post i think it will not be long before this goes to the attic so good time to join you all with a mentioning of the lack of workers to fill positions throughout the country.

Really don't think another stimulus and keeping enhanced unemployment benefits going is the answer. Where is the incentive to go get a job when everything is handed to them? Oh that is right this is the group that believes everyone gets a trophy.

I like Hacks caption, I too miss the America we grew up in.

We're seeing that in every industry here as well. For instance, restaurants and bars have been given the ok to allow more people in, and stay open longer. Half of them can't because people don't want to come back to work. In my opinion, their free money should be cut off immediately, if they won't return to work.
