What things are something you want to avoid as far as scent when rigging your baits and lures
Just curious if scents and stuff affect the bass bite
The short answer is : If you think it helps, use it. Just know many scents are oil based and when immersed in water, the scent floats to the surface, not much help to your lure. On the other hand , there are several companies that manage to incorporate a scent into their soft plastic baits that supposedly are water soluable and these lure makers say the fish hold on to the plastic longer. If I had to choose something to put into a bait it would be salt, that’s all. 2 reasons. Salt adds weight to help with buoyancy and if a fish bites into a salty bait, it should detect a bloody taste. There are numerous companies that offer salt in their soft plastics, in my opinion, the best attractant there is.... My 2cents...

I prefer to spread the scent ( paste type ) with something other then my finger. Just have a gut feeling that the fish would pick up my scent as well. I know, we all have our quirks.
I try to avoid gasoline and the smell of predator fish.
I avoid gasoline, insect repellent, and sun screen.
You should use sun screen and when I do, I either use disposable gloves or the sticks. At times you need insect repellent, but I try not to get it on my hands.
Hmm awesome feedback guys I appreciate it... so what’s your guys favorite thing to use as far as adding sent to lures for largemouth?
Anise (or licorice scent) has long been a standard bass scent. Salt impregnation is very common with a lot of plastics. Garlic is also a common scent for bass.
